EVENT INFO
FRIDAY
You will not be charged to enter Rother Valley Country Park on Friday if you are wearing uniform. You will be charged for entry and re-entry on both Saturday and Sunday but please keep your ticket which is valid all day.
The setting up of camp will not be permitted before 16:00 hours and Groups arriving before this time will be asked to wait. Groups need to arrive before 21:30 hours as the main park gate will be locked after this time.
CAMP CENTRE
Camp Centre will be situated in the large white marquee and will be open from 16:00 to 22:00 hours on Friday for booking in and the purchase of launch stickers.
On arrival all groups MUST report directly to Camp Centre to book in BEFORE setting up camp. Leaders will book their group in, pay or receive an invoice and then be shown to their site (please see Site Plan for more information on booking a site).
WRIST BANDS
Groups will receive their wrist bands when booking in and these must be worn by all Scouts, Guides and leaders while at Splashdown. It should be noted that leaders will receive a different colour band to that of Scouts and Guides so please be accurate with numbers when booking in.
CAMPING
NO RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE TAKEN FOR NON-MEMBERS OF THE SCOUT OR GUIDE MOVEMENT AT ANY TIME WHILST AT SPLASHDOWN.
All groups must have the appropriate permission from their GSL or DC, be accompanied by the correct number of leaders and must provide all their own camping equipment. Fires are NOT allowed and the only water tap is situated at RVCP Water Sport Centre. Skips will be available for your group rubbish, please use them!
TOILETS
The RVCP public toilets will be open all day and their use is encouraged when available. Splashdown will provide additional toilets on site however the capacity of these toilets is restricted. Leaders are asked to ensure these facilities are not misused.
VEHICLE ACCESS AND PARKING
Access will be allowed to some areas of the site on Friday for unloading. All vehicles must then be removed to one of the car parks. Only specific Crew vehicles will be allowed to remain on site over the weekend. No vehicles will be allowed to drive in to the camping area until after 16:00 hours Sunday.
LAUNCH STICKERS
Any group bringing their own craft to Splashdown must obtain a launch sticker per craft, per day. These can be purchased from Camp Centre on Friday up to 22:00 hours or at any time over the weekend (see Fees). There will be no charge for canoes or boats put in to the "pool" of craft used for the activity bases. These "pool" craft will also need a launch sticker (which will be a designated "P") for each day of use. These "pool" craft must then only be used by the sailing or canoe activity base and not by individual groups.
SAFETY BRIEFING
A safety briefing will be held in Camp Centre at 21:00 hours on Friday. It is vital that at least one leader from every group attend this ten minute meeting (see Safety).
SATURDAY
Craft must not be on the water before the safety boats!
09:30 - Activities commence.
12:30 - Lunch break (all craft off the water).
13:30 - Activities re-commence once safety boats back on water.
14:00 - Canoe Regatta.
16:30 - George Borwick Challenge.
18:30 - Activities finish (all craft off the water).
20:30 - Disco in Camp Centre.
SUNDAY
09:30 - Activities commence.
12:00 - All craft off the water.
12:15 - Raft race.
12:30 - Trophy presentation in Camp Centre & lunch break.
13:30 - Activities re-commence once safety boats back on water.
16:00 - Activities finish (all craft off the water).
18:00 - All sites to be cleared.
