SAFETY

SAFTEY BRIEFING 21:00 IN CAMP CENTRE.

BUOYANCY AIDS

It is essential that all buoyancy aids used by your group meet the required standards of the Scouting Association, are the right size for the user and are correctly adjusted.

ANY BUOYANCY AIDS FOUND TO BE BELOW THE REQUIRED STANDARD WILL BE CONFISCATED FOR THE DURATION OF SPLASHDOWN!

For advice on buoyancy aids please ask Mark Yates,

or during the event,

Ian Holmes (canoeing).

CRAFT TESTING

All craft, except rafts, must have a current test certificate. It will not be possible to test craft during the weekend. For more information on craft testing please contact Ian Holmes.

ACCIDENTS AND EMERGENCIES

PLEASE DO NOT REPORT ACCIDENTS TO ROTHER VALLEY.

Any injury must be reported to Camp Centre as soon as possible.

MINOR INJURIES - To be dealt with by own camp leaders.

MAJOR INJURIES - Attend or inform Camp Centre immediately.

Event First Aid is based at Camp Centre where a Doctor and First Aid team are available at all times.

EMERGENCY ACCESS

The main park gates are locked closed at 21:30 hours by park staff and re-opened at 08:30 hours. The gates can be opened up to 23:00 hours by prior arrangement with Camp Centre to allow people to enter or leave at a specific time. After 23:00 hours the gates will only be opened by a member of Splashdown Crew in the event of any emergency.

CAMP SITE SAFETY BREAKS

When setting up camp please bear in mind that the safety breaks have been put there for the safety of all campers. These breaks are to allow access to sites and to the lake and also to prevent over crowding. Please do not leave equipment in these marked out areas as it will be removed. Anyone pitching a tent in these areas will be required to move it.

AUTHORISATION AND SUPERVISION

All activities must comply with the association's activity rules and it is therefore important that each person in charge of a boat or group of canoes has the appropriate DC's authorisation (Class C water). Splashdown activities are covered by the Crew running that activity but groups must ensure their own leaders have the necessary authorisation for any activities undertaken by their group. Group leaders will also need to ensure that any adults assisting them who do not have a Scouting appointment have had a CRB check. This is the groups responsibility and not Splashdown's.
